Serving Churches — Reaching Russia — Since 1934

Monthly Prayer & Praise

NOVEMBER 2008

21—To reach the next generation for the Lord Jesus Christ, development of children’s ministries across the lands of Russia is of paramount importance — especially Sunday schools. We thank and praise God for the opportunities He has given SGA to help support the Sunday school ministries and children’s outreaches of local churches.

22—Among his other ministries in Russia’s Pskov region, SGA-sponsored church planter Konstantin Lupashtian runs a church-based drug rehabilitation center that has had quite an impact in his community. Pray that God will draw many to Himself through these vitally important outreaches.

23—The Lord’s Day: Philip ran up and heard him [the eunuch] reading Isaiah the prophet, and he said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me” (Acts 8:30-31)? As you worship this Sunday, pray for the many new believers across the lands of Russia, as they are discipled by local evangelical churches. Ask the Lord to grant them a deep hunger for His Word.

24—Pray for Dr. Piotr Mitskevich, vice president of the Russian UECB. May the Lord continually grant him strength and wisdom as he carries out his many duties, in addition to his ministry at Golgotha Baptist Church and as the president of Moscow Seminary.

25—As the winter months approach, Bible-preaching churches across the lands of Russia will encounter needs for humanitarian aid such as warm clothing. Pray for the funds needed to assist the churches with purchasing such aid on an as-needed basis.

26—Please pray regularly for SGA’s board of directors, chaired by Warner Tillman. Ask the Lord to grant them His wisdom as they — along with SGA president Bob Provost — oversee our mission in the midst of rapidly changing ministry conditions.

27—Thanksgiving Day: I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving (Psalm 69:30). As we count our blessings over the past year, we are indeed deeply thankful for all the Lord has accomplished through SGA in the lands of Russia. We are also deeply thankful for you — our faithful partners in ministry, who stand by us in prayer and in financial support.

28—As part of their regular ministries across the CIS, many SGA-sponsored church planters conduct prison outreaches in their localities. Some of the church planters are former prisoners themselves, and are dedicated to reaching inmates for Christ. Lift them before the Lord today.

29—In some regions across Russia, SGA-sponsored Orphans Reborn workers find access to orphanages difficult due to pressure from officials or other groups opposed to evangelical churches. Ask the Lord to intervene in these situations, and to enable the teams to share His love with the children unhindered.

30—Reflection: We close November with the Prophet Hosea ... Sow with a view to righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on you (Hosea 10:12).

SGA serves Bible-preaching churches in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States by helping native pastors and churches reach their own people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
